- The Windows-based GPD Win 3 handheld can now be ordered via Amazon.
- GPD’s machine packs a Core i5 or i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
GPD is one of the more prominent manufacturers when it comes to Android and Windows-powered gaming handhelds. The company’s GPD Win series of Windows handhelds offer integrated gamepad controls, and you can now order the firm’s new GPD Win 3 via Amazon.
For your cash, you get what is essentially a PC in a handheld form factor, complete with a 5.5-inch 720p display that slides up to reveal a capacitive keyboard underneath. Flanking the screen are gamepad controls, featuring two analog sticks, a D-pad, four face buttons, start/select buttons, and four shoulder buttons. You also get a fingerprint scanner below the face buttons for easy unlocking.
The GPD Win 3 isn’t too bad in the specs department either when you consider the handheld trappings. Expect to find a Core i5 1135G7 processor (with an optional upgrade to Core i7 1165G7), Intel’s Iris Xe graphics, 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD with microSD expansion.
YouTube videos show titles such as Genshin Impact, The Witcher 3, GTA 5, and Cyberpunk 2077, as well as emulators for consoles like the Wii U and PS2 running on the machine. Of course, these titles and emulators all run at varying quality levels but still seem playable. But you might want to check out a few more videos if you have a specific Windows game or app in mind.
Other notable features include a 45.62Wh battery providing up to three hours of “heavy” use (or six to eight hours of moderate use), a Thunderbolt 4 port, and a 3.5mm headphone/mic port. GPD is also selling an optional dock for $85, bringing a USB-C port and four full-sized USB ports, and an Ethernet port.
This isn’t the only PC-based handheld revealed in recent months, as the AMD-powered Aya Neo is another contender that has seen success on crowdfunding websites. Nevertheless, you can check out the GPD Win 3 Amazon listing via the button below.
